Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer TV personality, philanthropist, and the owner of the independent liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England together with her family around 16 years old. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA Degree in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. She became a conservative syndicated writer after the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a couple of years after, she created an online platform to voice opinions with a critique of current political scenarios. Her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna's fame was first noticed in 2003 when she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall vote to replace Governor Davis. In addition, she led a Detroit project that promoted the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes listed her 12th in its list for the Most influential women in the media. Guardian also included the Huffington Post in their list of the top 100 in 2010. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as president of the media group that also includes other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant and journalist. She was extremely close to her father, but it was her bond with her mother who shaped her. From her early years, she showed leadership abilities that remain highly respected. At the age of 16years old, she emigrated from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she was a member of the college debate group Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. In 1972, she earned a Masters in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a columnist critic, and a television host. In addition, she appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his editing assistance.
