Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston (born 9 August 1993 in Newark New Jersey) is the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston. As a child, she sang in her New Hope Baptist Church choir in Newark. When she was 15years old, Houston was singing professionally backing vocals with her mother for Chaka Khan's hit song in 1978 Im Every Woman. Her mother, Jermaine and Lou Rawls were some of those who she sang with. Her cover in 1981 was included on the cover of Seventeen Magazine. The quality of her work as the vocalist featured in New York funk group Material attracted the attention of several big record labels like Arista who she was signed in 1982, and was with them throughout the course of career. Whitney Houston, her debut album, released in 1985 was the top-selling debut album by any artist. From the album, she came out with several hits like Saving the Day, All My Love for You How Are You Going to Know If You're a Good Person And The More Love of All. This led to her achieving seven US number one hits in a row. It was even better than the Beatles. The album itself sold 3 million copies in the first year of its release in US as well as sell 25 million worldwide winning her the first of her six Grammys. The Whitney 1987 album, featuring Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as hits, helped build upon the success she had achieved. However, it came with The Bodyguard 1992 which cemented her reputation as one the world's most popular artists. Although the film and the actor's performance weren't much praised, her soundtrack album featuring her rendition of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was her top-selling single for long periods of time. The album sold over 44 million copies across the globe. Her daughter Bobbi was born in the month of March of 1993, a year following her wedding to Bobby Brown. Her drug addiction began around this time and, in 1996, she'd become a regular user.
